Message In order to get more people to readily use your product, I suggest lowering your brand identification a good notch. I would guess these wallpapers are two fold for your business.

1. Serve as a low cost Promotional item meant to create small amounts of buzz and goodwill - free merchandise, usable, nice, interesting, having value, of need, etc.

2. Drive traffic to your site - in the end, hoping for additional sales etc.

I am not saying the way you have it now won’t work to some degree. But most of the people I know and from what large independent group studies show is that people don’t want to "advertise" with the items they use.

I however think the product you offer is valuable. It is hard to find great screensavers of nice cars. I think many more people would be interested in some of the GREAT photos you guys have as wallpapers and in your magazine if it didn’t have the high level of branding as it currently has. The logos take away from the beautiful pictures, IMO.

Thus to solve a possible dilemma of you turning away a large section of your target market, tailor it down a bit. I think you would see a 50% jump in usage if you just had a small logo incorporating your URL in one of the corners.

Inevitably what would happen is more people use them. The more people that use them the more others will recognize it as great photography/wallpapers and want one for their computer etc. The more others recognize, the more likely they are to visit your site as well and the trend continues. Of all those new users, someone is bound to be interesting in subscriptions etc.

You didn’t ask for any advice and you may not care what I have to say. But I just figured I would throw it out there in case you do. I work primarily as a brand manager for a very large rental car company here in the US, so this type of stuff gets boring to me since I deal with it on a daily basis. But on this scale and dealing with this atmosphere, it intrigued me to write a bit and offer a little help.

Later,
Sean
